Site Excavation

Foundations are being dugSite excavation has begun at Thompson Place. Two new, permanently affordable homes are being built at the same time for an economy of scale. Stay tuned for more photos and video from the site.

You may be wondering what is a modular home. Is it a mobile home? No, it is not. “Modular construction is a process in which a building is constructed off-site, under controlled plant conditions, using the same materials and designing to the same codes and standards as conventionally built facilities – but in about half the time. Buildings are produced in “modules” that when put together on site, reflect the identical design intent and specifications of the most sophisticated site-built facility – without compromise.” For more information on modular construction, visit the Modular Building Institute website. CCHLT is excited to use this innovative building method on our two homes.

If you missed any of the updates, here is a brief overview of the home build process. In August, CCHLT sent out a RFP for two new, modular homes featuring three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. In addition to 1200+ sq.ft. of finished space, each home would have ample storage space with a full basement. In September, CCHLT announced that Valley Homes was selected as the builder for the two homes. From September through October, CCHLT Board member and Project Development Committee Chair, George Khoury, procured the necessary permits to begin construction on the homes. In November, Reliance Bank financed CCHLT’s construction loans on the two homes.
